When you want everything to be perfect on your wedding day….the flowers are beautiful, your guests are making merry, the 3 tier cake has precariously been delivered to its final destination without falling, the ceremony went without a “hitch” and its time to celebrate with a champagne or two and of course, this coupled with the excitement of the day and you realize there is one element you haven’t prepared for – peeing in your wedding dress! I mean, how do you tackle that?? Preparation, that’s how…and perhaps the help of a few close friends.

Practicing beforehand is the biggest game changer. Put on your wedding dress and see which way is best for sitting/straddling the toilet. Straddling frontways may be easier as you can control what the front part of the dress is doing and you know there’s no part that will fall in…find what works best for you and perfect it to limit your time in the loo.

Yes, facing the toilet cistern is the best way to go when you have a dress with a long train or long veil. Have some friends holding the back of the dress so you can do what you have to and then when reversing away from the toilet you will not fall over the back of the dress.

Limit your pre wedding drinks and water just for a day. Because after morning drinks you can be guaranteed that your bladder will call to you every 5 minutes! And it’s so inconvenient amongst the preparations for the big day!

Give a heads up to a couple of close friends that won’t mind toilet-stopping with you, that they may be called on to hold up your dress if it’s particularly flamboyant or multi-layered and hand you the loo paper; these friends would not expect anything less of you!

Time your toilet stops for when there is unimportant stuff going on…there is nothing worse than fearing your corset will burst and you with it, when your father is giving that all-revealing father-of-the-bride speech, or when you are having that first dance , or cutting the cake. These moments are to be breathed in, and remembered as significant, happy memories.

So, now you are truly prepared….for every event on your wedding day!
