Personal Flowers

You may hear the term “Personal Flowers” even though they are for a wedding.  This is referring to flowers which are used by the bridal party.

Personal flowers are any flowers held or worn by the bridal party and their family members. Personal flowers include the bridal bouquet, bridesmaid’s bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, and hair flowers.

Bouquet

A hand-held arrangement of flowers, typically bound together by ribbon. The focal point is the Bride’s Bouquet, often the most photographed arrangement on the wedding day. Maid of Honour’s Bouquet and Bridesmaid’s Bouquet can echo the bridal bouquet or feature a slightly different shape while coordinating with the selected color palette. For younger attendants, a posy, a smaller hand-held arrangement, may be opted for. Budget tip: Repurpose bouquets as reception centerpieces or adornments for the cake and wishing well tables.

Boutonniere or Buttonhole

A small pin-on floral accessory worn on the left lapel of a suit, primarily by the groom or groomsmen. Sometimes extended to VIP guests like parents and officiants.

Corsage

More intricate than a boutonniere, this floral accessory is worn by the mothers of the bride and groom, either pinned directly on their clothes or worn on the wrist.

Flower Crown

A floral accessory worn on the head, popular in boho wedding styles. Also adored by flower girls or used as a collar for furry family members. Budget tip: If on a tight budget, consider alternatives like floral clips or individual wired hair flowers.

Floral Installation

A design where flowers and greenery are incorporated onto, into, or around a structure. It can be against a wall, suspended from the ceiling, or integrated into an interior structure. Floral installations often demand more planning, design, materials, and labor, making them a significant item in the floral budget

Ceremony Floral Feature Arrangement

Flowers designed to create a captivating backdrop for the wedding couple during the ceremony. Common designs include floral archways and tall arrangements on stands. Modern designs may feature semi-circular ground arrangements and deconstructed arches.

Bridal Table Feature Arrangement

Arrangement of flowers styled on or around the bridal table. The arrangement is usually long and low to avoid obstructing the view of the bridal party and guests.

Table Centrepiece

An arrangement of flowers placed on the guest tables, varying in height from tall stands to low settings. Taller arrangements generally cost more due to requiring more flowers. Another popular design is the garland-style centerpiece, a strand-like arrangement of flowers and greenery running down the center of long reception tables, priced by the meter. A more budget-friendly alternative is the flat-lay, which is less full and flatter compared to the standard garland.
